MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (20mm, 8.57 gm, 9h). NGC Choice MS S 5/5 - 5/5, Fine Style. Posthumous issue of Babylon, under Seleucus I Nicator, ca. 311-300 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right / AΛEΞANΔPOY / BAΣ-IΛEΩΣ, Nike standing left, wreath upward in right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; MYP monogram in wreath below wing in left field, HP monogram below wing in right field. Price -, cf. 3716 (HYP monogram in wreath, sphinx on helmet). SC -, cf. 81.9 (same). Incredibly attractive example from exquisite dies of fine style on pristine flan.
