SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysius I (405-367 BC). AV 100 litrai (13mm, 5.80 gm, 9h). NGC Choice AU 4/5 - 4/5, die shift. Ca. 405-400 BC. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ, head of Arethusa left, wearing triple pendant earring and pearl necklace, hair gathered up at the back in a saccus ornamented with two stars; behind her neck, star of six rays / Heracles kneeling right, strangling the Nemean lion. Bérend 20 (D13/R9). Dewing 925 (same dies ). Ex Obolos 6, (20 November 2016), lot 212; Chrysos Collection, acquired in Geneva in 1980.
