Septimus Severus (AD 193-211). AR denarius (19mm, 3.38 gm, 6h). NGC AU S 4/5 - 4/5. Rome, AD 206. SEVERVS-PIVS AVG, laureate head of Septimius Severus right / P M TR P XIII / COS III P P, the Capitoline Triad: Jupiter (in center) seated facing, thunderbolt in right hand, scepter in left; Minerva (on left) seated facing, helmeted head right, scepter in left hand, and Juno (on right) seated facing, veiled head left, scepter in left hand. RIC -. C -. BMC -. Hill -. Apparently unique and likely shows the statues as they were displayed in the the temple on the Capitoline Hill. From the Morris Collection.
