IMP TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC P M TR P, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trajan right, seen from behind / AVGVSTI / PROFECTIO, Trajan on horse right, transverse spear in right hand, preceded by a soldier holding spear and shield and followed by three more soldiers. RIC II 297 variety (not cuirassed). Cohen 40 variety (not cuirassed). BMC 512. Calicó 986 (this coin). Biaggi 465 (this coin). Very rare. From the Morris Collection. Ex Numismatica Ars Classica 49 (21 October 2008), lot 199 (hammered for 8500 CHF); Munzen & Medaillen 13 (17 June 1954), lot 675 (note: the NAC 49 catalog incorrectly pedigrees this lot to M&M 18).
