Sword and scepter crossed in saltire; crown above, thistle to left and right, date below. Premium for the grade, this piece clearly saw some circulation but its high points are worn shallowly and evenly with no significant areas of localized weakness. The legends are alight with a gorgeous peach tone, adding contrast to the lemon-gold surfaces of the planchet. A popular Scottish denomination and rare as well-struck and detailed as this.
