Description

Alexander III 25 Kopecks 1890-AГ MS65 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-Y44, Bitkin-93 (R1). Obv. Bust of Alexander III right. Rev. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value. An absolutely astonishing example of this extremely rare issue. The obverse displays light gray patina with a thin band of russet around the periphery. The reverse exhibits mottled gray coloring with hints of russet. The strike is bold and the fields fully prooflike with only a few faint marks. Rare in all grades, this low-mintage issue (2.006 pieces) is almost unknown in gem condition. This example is the only MS65, and the single finest certified examples of NGC and PCGS combined.
