Description

Nicholas I gold "Gymnasias" Medal ND (c. 1835) MS62 NGC, Diakov-523.4 (R2). 25.41 gm. A wonderful and quite rare prize Medal awarded to young male pupils. With a beautiful and detailed portrayal of Minerva holding lamp and wreath and the iconic double-headed eagle. On the verge of choice in appearance, with only sporadic and meager wisps noted in the fields likely refraining the piece a single grade point. However, the glass-like reflectivity emitted therein, with the crisp and icy devices presenting an almost prooflike quality.
