Description

Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1743 Mo-MF UNC Details (Obverse Scratched) NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148, Onza-441, Fr-8. Were it not for a couple of thin scratches, one projecting outward from the king's neckline, the other running along the length of his hair to the left, this piece would likely have certified in near-gem condition. The luster is exceptional, cascading effortlessly within the confines of the raised peripheries, the strike even and symmetrical. Even the slight weakness in the centers, common for the series, is easily forgiven, as all major elements of the design are present and framed by soundly impressed surrounding detail. All-in-all, a beautiful example deserving of advanced collector attention.
