João V gold 1600 Reis 1727-B VF Details (Obverse Graffiti) NGC, Bahia mint, KM124, Russo-78. Noted as "Rare" in the Standard Catalog of World Coins. This is only the second example of this type that we have been able to offer, though the first dated 1727, the other being a Fine Details 1729-dated issue that sold in 2013 for $14,687.50 (Sale 3024, Lot #23188) . Both the 1727 and 1729 Bahia-minted issues are considered very rare. Lightly toned, with three uniform grooves directly to the right of the king's bust.
