This remarkable piece displays an exquisite portrait of James III the Pretender, complemented by deep mirror fields and a subtle charcoal hue along the edges, with virtually no signs of wear or defacing marks on its lustrous surface. The reverse side captivates with its portrayal of a dramatic scene; the Hanoverian horse wreaking havoc on the heraldic lion and unicorn of Britain as Britannia watches hopelessly. It additionally illustrates a 1721 depiction of London, with St. Paul's Cathedral clearly visible amongst the skyline.
