Description

Philip V gold Cob 2 Escudos 1728-S AU55 NGC, Santa Fe (de Bogota) mint, KM17.2 (Rare), Cal-1943 (only listed as overdate) Restrepo-M80-8 (same). 6.73gm. José Sanchez de la Torre as assayer. A scarce Cob type that comes to public auction with great infrequency, our firm having witnessed the type only once in the past and at XF40 preservation. The piece at hand comes in at a lofty yet justified assessment, as original bloom still glints around the stocky planchet and the visible details retain much of their highpoint articulation. Though the peripheral date and mintmark are off flan, the style is indisputable for those familiar with the type. HID09801242017 © 2023 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
