Description

Victoria gold "St. George" Sovereign 1881-M MS65 PCGS, Melbourne mint, KM7, S-3857A. Horse with short tail, no "BP" initials in exergue. A conditional outlier not only for this scarcer type, denoted by the lack of Pistrucci's initials and horse with short tail, but across all examples of this date and mint combination. While specimens can be located in AU or lower Mint State designations, nearly none even approach Gem status, with only a single long tail type at MS65 and none finer between either variety. As such, we expect intense bidding when crossing the auction block. HID09801242017 © 2023 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
