SICILY. Syracuse. Agathocles (317-289 BC). EL 25 or 12.5-litrai or quarter-stater (11mm, 1.88 gm, 9h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 3/5, brushed. Pre-royal coinage, ca. 310-306/5 BC. Laureate head of Apollo left with long hair / ΣYPAKO-ΣIΩN, cithara with four strings. HGC 2, 1295. BMC 268 (same dies). SNG Fitzwilliam 1295-1296 (same dies). Crisp, bright, and lustrous.
