Touraine. Robert I Denier ND (936-954) VF20 NGC, Tours or Chinon mint, Roberts-1801, Dup-414. A scarce and demanded early French type, still wholly appreciable at this mid-grade problem-free state. From the end of the reign of Charles the Simple, under Robert I, or the beginning of the reign of Raoul, marking the beginning of feudal coinage. Under pressure from the Normans, the Tours mint had to be transferred to Chinon several times, these emissions were used to pay troops.
