Mindon gold Pe CS 1228 (1866) MS63 PCGS, KM19, Fr-6. An exceptional and diminutive Burmese gold issue that leaves an impression upon a viewer many times its size. Notorious for being unevenly struck, the obverse of this specimen is excellent, boasting a near-complete portrait of the Foo-dog and peripheral legends. The strike of the reverse is a bit more standard for the type, slightly uneven, but the quality of the obverse carries the day. In addition to the strike characteristics, this conditionally scarce emission, presented here in enviable Choice Mint State, displays an unbroken layer of mint luster and a lovely tangerine tone.
