It was famous for its temple dedicated to Apollo Gryneios, the aspect of the God dedicated to the protection and care of temples and sanctuaries. This temple was an important religious center, and the worship of Apollo was a significant aspect of the region's religious life, as noted by Strabo and Pausanias.
