Republic gold 4 Escudos 1855 Go-PF AU55 NGC, Guanajuato mint, KM381.4, Fr-83. A few planchet flaws and some handling marks but an obviously high grade specimen with significant remaining luster. For accuracy purposes, a strike-through across the denomination is mentioned. Likely among the finest known of this elusive date rated as "Extremely rare" by Long and therefore a rare opportunity for the specialist to acquire a high grade example. All but one of the few offerings mentioned by Long were lower end, circulated, and/or damaged specimens (the exception being an XF-AU coin), while this coin is currently the 2nd highest graded specimen by NGC (after an AU58 coin).
