Pedro I 37-1/2 Reis 1828-M AU55 Brown NGC, Minas Gerais mint, KM362, LMB-730. Final year of issue. An enticing survivor of this coveted and whimsical denomination known to Brazilian type collectors as the "gold Vintém". Due to a lack of a smaller denomination which could facilitate the exchange of gold dust, the Portuguese crown came up with a solution: creating a coin worth 1/32 of the period gold ounce, therefore minimizing the tax evasion due to a lack of change during tax collection. The present offering displays near-immaculate surfaces with a balanced strike and red crevices. Ex.
