Description

Bavaria. Karl Theodor gold 2 Ducat 1787 MS62 Prooflike NGC, Munich mint, KM583, Fr-254, Wittelsbach-2323. 6.97gm. Dies by Heinrich Straub. A decidedly rare "Doppeldukat" featuring Karl Theodor on the obverse and a three-paned Bavarian coat of arms on the reverse. This representative is surely one of the nicest of its kind extant, boasting significant Cameo effect and radiant cartwheel luster. Though the open fields on the obverse display sporadic light wisps, the sheer brilliance of the mint bloom and Tuscan sun patina overpower most of the potential distractions. The only example of its type certified by NGC. HID09801242017 © 2023 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
