One of twenty-four sets made for the Commissioners responsible for the Great Exhibition of 1851 coming to fruition. This particular set was presented to Major-General George Ayton Craster, Lieutenant of the Bengal Engineers and is accompanied by its original presentation box. The box, measuring 262 x 365 x 48mm, is bound in red leather and fit with brass hinges and clasps with gilt tooling. The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet and watered silk, and is inscribed inside the lid with the following dedication in gold letting: "Presented by Her Majesty's Commissioners for the Exhibition of MDCCCLI to Geo.
