Cyprus Central Bank of Cyprus 5 Pounds 1.3.1960 Pick 36a PMG About Uncirculated 55. Easily one of Ibrahim's favorites, the rarity of the 1960 £5 is understated. All of the known notes to survive, but this one, are in the range of B/1 0857XX (e.g. B/1 085762), as they were probably taken out from the same part of the bundle during the process of their destruction; this particular note offered here has a serial number B/1 045278, and it is the only one known today from that serial number range. This example is an unlikely survivor. The note is originally from the legendary collection of Major F. Pridmore, who was the author of the first ever and up-to-date the only research of modern Cyprus numismatics (refer to bibliography); the note was sold in the 1981 Pridmore Collection of the Coins of the British Commonwealth of Nations Auction by Glendining and Co. in cooperation with A. H. Baldwin and Sons (Part One, lot 641, p.75; the 1960 £5 note s/n B/1 045278 is part of 3 notes lot). A center bend is seen and the overall appearance is outstanding with four, full margins and brilliant, printed colors.
