Bermuda Bermuda Government 2 Shillings 6 Pence 1.3.1939 Pick 7s Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. As World War II raged in Europe, coinage was hoarded around the world. As a preventative measure, the Bermuda Legislature authorized the printing of 1 Shilling and 2 Shillings 6 Pence notes. However, coinage was not hoarded and there was no need for small change notes. Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company actually printed 300,000 1 Shilling notes and 240,000 2 Shillings 6 Pence notes. However, none were issued. This outstanding Specimen appears fully printed, as the back was intended to be blank. A perforated cancellation and printer notations are mentioned for accuracy. A key type and a pretty design for Bermuda, and the first we have offered. From the Ibrahim Salem Collection HID09801242017 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
