Victoria bronze "The Royal Exchange Re-Opening" Medal 1844 MS64 Brown NGC, BHM-2185. 73mm. Obv. Draped bust of Thomas Gresham left. Rev. Statue of Victoria left, with scepter and orb, set on pedestal. By W. Wyon. Ornately designed and intricately engraved, this glossy specimen retains maximum visual appeal. While not exceedingly rare, this example is as well preserved as one could reasonably expect to find. Thomas Gresham (1519-1579), after whom "Gresham’s Law" is named, urged Queen Elizabeth to restore confidence in the then-debased English currency.
