Meiji gold 5 Yen Year 5 (1872) MS66 PCGS, KM-Y11a, JNDA 01-3A. A lesser encountered type from the Meiji gold series, represented by a comfortably Gem specimen. An exacting strike echoes from the surfaces, the central devices wrapped in scarlet tone, a fiery aura balanced by a small violet crescent at 9 o'clock on the reverse. Affordable here, as both PCGS and NGC populations thin out at finer designations.
