Description

Hadrian (AD 117-138). AV aureus (20mm, 7.21 gm, 6h). NGC XF 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style, edge marks. Rome, AD 134-138. HADRIANVS-AVG COS III P P, bare-headed, draped bust of Hadrian right, seen from back / SECVRI-TAS AVG, Securitas seated right, bare to waist, cornucopia cradled in left arm, head propped up by right hand which rests on back of chair in the shape of a cornucopia. Calicó 1374 (same reverse die). RIC II.3, 2232. Delightfully bright fields, handsome Fine Style detailing, and touches of amber toning throughout the recesses.
