Q. Servilius Caepio (M. Junius) Brutus, Assassin of Caesar, as Proconsul (44-42 BC). AR denarius (17mm, 4.18 gm, 8h). NGC Choice XF S 4/5 - 5/5. Military mint traveling with Brutus in Lycia, spring-early summer 42 BC. LEIBERTAS, bare head of Libertas right / CAEPIO•BRVTVS•PRO•COS, plectrum, lyre, and laurel branch tied with fillet. Crawford 501/1. Sydenham 1287. Lovely even dark cabinet toning light iridescence in the fields. Ex Edward J.
