Description

George III gold "Military" Guinea 1813 MS64+ NGC, KM664, S-3730, Farey-1390. From an issue of only 80,000 pieces minted primarily to pay for the soldiers in Wellington's army fighting in the Napoleonic Wars, and the final year of the Guinea's production, this Choice example is currently the sole finest graded across NGC and PCGS. Blessed by a harmonious combination of silky luminosity cascading over the fields permeated with honeyed tone, with nary a single significant instance of contact that would be considered distracting visible even under magnification. We note our previous example in comparable caliber graded PCGS MS64 achieved $15,600 in August 2021. Certainly a premium offering and conditionally extremely rare, a magnificent numismatic treasure and destined to a connoisseur Guinea collection. From the Mac and Rob Woodside Collection
