Saxe-Weimar. Wilhelm IV Taler 1658 MS63 NGC, Weimar mint, KM64, Dav-7547, Schnee-375. A particularly challenging issue only coming to auction once every year or two, almost exclusively having experienced gentle use in commerce. Here we have the one of if not the finest of this fleeting single-year type, struck upon the consecration of the new chapel at Schloss Wilhelmsburg and depicting its façade. Light residual flash percolates the peripheries while illuminating a subtle cabinet tone that will immediately be recognized as a treasure in every sense. Ex.
