Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. Friedrich II Taler 1717 CW//IT MS65 NGC, Gotha mint, KM199, Dav-2712A. Ranked at the apex of NGC's census, a simply stunning cabinet Gem commemorating the bicentennial of the Protestant Reformation. Apart from some softness on the reverse devices, the piece is definitively formed and clad with underlying luster. An emerald exergue on the reverse along with a cobalt and plum crescent on the obverse emit great character, further distinguishing this specimen from its peers. Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 47, November 2007, Lot 979) From the Cape Coral Collection, Part II
