Japan Greater Japan Imperial Government Note 5 Yen 1880 (ND 1882) Pick 18 PMG Very Fine 25. An scarce note that retains great color and features a portrait of Empress Jingu at right. After her husband, Emperor Chuai, died in 209 she was in power until 269 when her son, Emperor Ojin, ascended to the throne. The notes from this issue were the first in Japan to depict a woman. High value 19th century types are seldom encountered, only 14 examples are registered in the PMG Population Report, making this a rare opportunity to add such lovely addition to your collection.
