INDIA. Kushan Empire. Vasudeva II (ca. AD 267-300). AV dinar (22mm, 7.94 gm, 12h). NGC Choice AU 4/5 – 5/5. Kushan standard, Mathura/Gandhara, main mint. ÞAONANOÞAO BA-ZOΔHO KOÞANO, Vasudeva II standing facing, nimbate head left, with sideburns and mustache, wearing diadem with ribbons to right, conical jeweled hat, clad in full armor, tightly fitting open kaftan with sharply arched hemline over trousers and boots, long sword in loosely slug belt on left hip, stylized flames on right shoulder, dropping pellets with right hand over lit altar to left, grounded staff in left; filleted trident to left, JiRa (Brahmi) between altar and left leg, Gho between feet, Tra to right of feet, RaDa to right of staff / OhÞO, Ithyphallic Siva standing facing, nimbate with hair in topknot and curls continuing over shoulders, bare to waist, wearing ankle length dhoti with symmetrical folds, diadem in right hand, trident with bent shaft in left; the bull Nandi behind standing left, tamgha to upper left, dotted border.
