INDIA. Kushan Empire. Kanishka I (ca. AD 127-151). AE didrachm (21mm, 8.40 gm, 12h). VG, tooled. Kapisha, main mint (probably Begram), late phase. ÞAO KA-NHÞKI, Kanishka I standing facing, head left, wearing long beard, diadem with ribbons, round brimmed Iranian cap, cloak around shoulders over belted tunic, trousers, and boots, flame emanating from right shoulder, dropping pellets with right hand over lit altar at left, grounded spear in left / BOΔΔO, Shakyamuni Buddha standing facing, nimbate, hair in topknot, wearing monk's robes including upper and lower under-robes and a samghati with folds in left hand at waist, right hand raised in gesture of abhayamudra; tamgha to left, dotted border.
