Description

Augustus (27 BC-AD 14). AR cistophorus (26mm, 11.76 gm, 12h). NGC AU 5/5 - 3/5, brushed. Pergamum(?), ca. 27-26 BC. IMP•CAESAR, bare head of Augustus left; lituus left in left field, dotter border / AVGVSTVS, capricorn right, head left, bearing cornucopia on back; all within laurel wreath. RIC I 489. Struck from magnificent style dies. Exceptionally attractive in hand.
