SELEUCID KINGDOM. Demetrius II Nicator, Second Reign (129-125 BC). AR tetradrachm (30mm, 16.53 gm, 1h). NGC AU 5/5 - 2/5, Fine Style. Antioch on the Orontes, ca. 129-128 BC. Diademed head of Demetrius II right, wearing long beard, with tousled locks on crown of head and stubby horn at temple, diadem ends falling straight behind; bead and reel border / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ / ΘΕΟΥ / NIKA-TOΡOΣ, Zeus enthroned left, grounded scepter in left hand, Nike in outstretched right hand extending wreath toward edge of coin; ΞA in exergue. SC -, cf. 2164/2166. Highly attractive portrait and reverse composition. SC 2164 has these controls in the exergue, however the portrait displays hair combed smooth on crown of head and Nike faces right to crown Zeus. SC 2166 has the touseled-hair portrait and Nike left, but the controls are in the field and under the throne.
