Description

George VI Proof Crown 1949 PR66 PCGS, KM22, Remick-Y27. Estimated Mintage: 3. Struck to commemorate the proposed visit of George VI to New Zealand. An exceedingly rare offering of a type with an estimated mintage numbering a mere three examples in Proof. Near-immaculate glossy surfaces contrast with a frosty, somewhat matte bust, giving this sleek piece the full cameo effect. Tied for the finest certified by PCGS to date across a census numbering 6 examples, which seemingly points to either a slightly higher mintage than estimated or some degree of recertification. Nonetheless, a great Proof rarity.
