Description

George III gold Sovereign 1817 MS63 PCGS, KM674, S-3785, Marsh-1. The inaugural "modern" gold Sovereign that would experience continuity for the next two centuries, being adopted as one of the most utilized issues for domestic and international trade as well as one of the most sought-after denominations in numismatics. Boisterous mint bloom traverses the crisp, honeyed surfaces unimpeded while the paucity of imperfections defines the Choice Mint State designation. While census figures confirm an abundance of this date still extant, numbering in excess of 300 examples submitted between NGC and PCGS, less than ten percent rank finer, making for an uncommon opportunity to own such a fine representative of this iconic issue.
