MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 8.58 gm, 1h). NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5. Late lifetime-early posthumous issue of Cyprus, Citium, ca. 325-320 BC. Head of Athena right, hair wildly loose and upswept at temple, wearing necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, long parallel crest ends, bowl decorated with coiled serpent right / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡOΥ, Nike standing facing, head left, wreath in outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; KT (city ethnic) monogram in left field, below wing. Price 3104. Struck from highly detailed dies on bright, lustrous flan.
