Banknotes from the famed issuer are popular with collectors worldwide, and examples from the first and second series are nearly impossible to obtain in any format. This excellent 5 Pesos is from the second series, which was printed by Thomas de la Rue. It is unlisted in the standard and specialized catalogs, and it is only fully illustrated in the Mexican Paper Money catalog, for which this is the plate note. It has been previously mounted, which is typical, and displays a cancellation on the front. A rare 19th century type and worthy of serious consideration.
