Canada Province of Canada, Montreal $1 1.10.1866 PC-2a PMG Very Fine 20. The 1866 issue marked the first currency issued by the newly established Dominion of Canada, which came into existence in 1867. The government opted to continue the 1866 issue until the first formal issue of Dominion currency was printed in 1870. All Province of Canada issues are scarce, with the higher denominations generally unobtainable. Although minor rust mentioned, there are only 12 graded examples in the PMG Population Report, and this one is tied for the second highest grade reflecting the scarcity of this issue.
