Cuba Banco Nacional de Cuba 2 Pesos ND (1905) Pick 66s Specimen PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. The National Bank of Cuba that issued banknotes in the early 20th century was actually a privately owned bank. The National Bank of Cuba that began issuing banknotes in 1948 as a government entity and it is completely unrelated to the aforementioned private bank. In fact, once the Government realized that the National Bank of Cuba had a series of banknotes printed and issued, it immediately ordered the withdrawal and destruction of those notes. This 2 Pesos Specimen is from the ill-fated series. The paper is as fresh as the day this Specimen was created. Hole punched cancelled and overprinted as per tradition at the time. A mere six of these Specimens have been graded by PMG at the time of cataloging, and this example is bettered by only one. An import and rarely seen type.
