AVT KAIC TPAIAN-AΔPIANOC CEB, laureate, draped bust of Hadrian right, seen from behind / Isis Pharia right, holding billowing sail; Pharos to right, L IH (date) above. Köln 1121-2. Waddell, private sale with old dealer's tag Note: The Pharos on this series is the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the last of the seven Wonders of the ancient world and one of the few Wonders depicted on contemporary coinage. The lighthouse was on the northwest coast of the Egyptian delta and took the name "Pharos" from the island in front of the harbor on which it was built. Afterwards, pharos became the generic term for lighthouses.
