Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Zeus enthroned left, right leg drawn back, feet on platform, eagle in right hand, scepter in left; to left, club being held by crab; ΦI in left field. Price 2503. Extremely rare, only three examples sold in the past 20 years, with this piece being the finest among them. Struck from magnificent dies with great attention to detail - the club, crab, and eagle are all meticulously engraved. Lightly toned.
