Kingdom of Napoleon. Napoleon I gold 40 Lire 1811/09-M AU55 NGC, Milan mint, KM12, Fr-5. A scarcely encountered overdate variety at any grade, much less at this state of preservation. The piece at hand presents soft lemon surfaces, a better strike than expected from the type, and a shine that becomes glassy toward the legends. The overdate is quite clear on the first digit and less so on the second.
