(obverse as Dup-249). 4.50gm. 3rd Emission (from 5 January 1348). +PhILIPPVS: DЄI x | x GRΛ x | FRΛnCORVM: RЄX (saltire and double saltire stops), Philippe seated facing on Gothic throne, a sword in his right hand and his left supporting a shield, all within tressure / + XPC: VInCIT: XPC: RЄGИΛT: XPC: INPЄRT (double saltire stops), cross fleurée with quatrefoil at center and at the ends of the limbs, leaves in angles; all within a quadrilobe with trefoils in spandrels. An interesting variety, seemingly missed by Duplessy, offered here with crisp Mint State surfaces and an old patina.
