JUDAEA. Bar Kokhba Revolt (AD 132-135). AE middle bronze (25mm, 8.59 gm, 1h). NGC Choice XF S 4/5 - 3/5, repatinated, overstruck. Undated issue of Year 3 (AD 134/5). For the Freedom of Israel (Paleo-Hebrew), vertical palm within wreath / Simon (Paleo-Hebrew), elongated kinnor (or lyre) with three strings. GBC 6, 6463. GBC 5, 1436. TJC 297. Mildenberg 31. Attractive contrasts highlighting the dramatic overstrike. From the New England Collection Overstruck on a Roman Provincial bronze coin from Judaea-Ascalon, showing the CEBA(CTOC) of the obverse legend and the portrait of what appears to be Trajan merged with the kinnor.
