Simon (more accurately Simna with letter arrangement) (Paleo-Hebrew), name within wreath of thin branches wrapped around eight almonds; medallion at top, tendrils at bottom / For the Freedom of Jerusalem (Paleo-Hebrew), fluted oenochoe, handle on left, willow branch to right. GBC 6, 6449. GBC 5, 1422. TJC 283a. Mildenberg 109. Interesting overstrike with the host coin significantly displayed. From the New England Collection Overstruck on an issue of the following type: ARABIA PETRAEA. Bostra. Trajan (AD 98-117). AR drachm. AD 113. AYTOKP KAIC NEP TPAIAN CEB ΓEPM ΔAK, laureate bust of Trajan right, slight drapery on left shoulder / ΔΗΜΑΡX-ΕΞ IϚ ΥΠΑΤ Ϛ, Arabia standing facing, head left, branch downward in right hand, bundle of cinnamon sticks in left; forepart of camel left beyond. Sydenham 184 (Caesarea, Cappadocia).
