Ferdinand VI gold Cob Escudo 1749 L-R MS64 NGC, Lima mint, KM45, Cal-596 (this coin), Oro Macuquino-192. 3.41gm. A remarkable survivor from the few Lima gold Cobs Ferdinand VI ever struck. Presenting fully-engraved motifs and fairly lustrous recesses, it's the sole piece graded by either NGC or PCGS, with no other examples auctioned in the last 20 years. To put it into perspective, the comprehensive Caballero de Las Yndias collection did not figure a single Ferdinand VI gold escudo from the Lima mint. The piece plated in Oro Macuquino has a clear assayer but barely visible date; unsurprisingly, this near-gem is plated in Calico. Ex. Áureo & Calicó Auction 260 (May 2014, Lot 1047)
