Description

Louis XIII gold 2 Louis d'Or 1640-A MS62 PCGS, Paris mint, KM108, Fr-109, Gad-59, L4L-66 (R2). "IMP" in reverse legends, small head (petite tête) variety. A radiant Double Louis d'Or showing an impressive level of preservation and standing at the peak of its population. The king's coiffure proves to be fully rendered with a touch of frostiness that is expressed throughout the bust. Semi-reflective fields with abundant cartwheel luster contrast with the razor-sharp motifs, giving this specimen a singular eye-appeal. Among certified specimens of this type, the example at hand ranks among the best, with only three graded finer between both major grading services, making for an undeniably attractive opportunity to acquire this issue so nice.
