MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV quarter-stater (11mm, 2.14 gm, 10h). NGC MS S 5/5 - 4/5. Late lifetime-early posthumous issue of Amphipolis, ca. 325-319 BC. Head of Athena right, hair in two tight corkscrew curls, another curl behind and a fourth over left shoulder, wearing pendant earring, necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, short parallel crest ends, bowl decorated with coiled serpent right / AΛEΞAN / ΔPOY, horizontal bow and club left, horizontal thunderbolt above.
