Description

Kaufbeuren. Free City Taler 1544 MS65+ NGC, Dav-9351 var. (there with rosette stops), Schulten-1557. With the name and titles of Karl V. Rarely do we witness issues of Karl V in such advanced states, the original surfaces of this specimen demonstrate the great care taken by the generations of numismatists that have showcased this magnificent piece in their cabinets. Steely pewter appearances abound this impressive survivor, enhanced by generous mint flashy witnessed at the flick of the wrist. As a clear conditional and aesthetic outlier, this offering remains in a realm of its own at this certified level of gem, and visually engaging at every turn. Ex. Dr. Busso Peus Nachfolger Auction 390 (May 2007, Lot 407) From the collector: During my visit to the Peus sale in 2007, I bought this striking coin reported by many as the finest known portrait of Carl V of Spain. It is no wonder why this world class, nearly 400 year-old coin is a favorite of mine. From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
